GLEP applauds the Michigan House of Representatives for passing, by a vote of 85-21, HCR 11, a resolution endorsing the continued implementation of the Common Core State Standards for Michigan students.

“We appreciate the 17 hours of due diligence and thorough examination of the Common Core under Chairman TIm Kelly’s leadership,” said Gary Naeyaert, executive director at GLEP.

Michigan is one of 45 states that have adopted the rigorous, internationally-benchmarked standards that will make our students competitive in a global economy.

The State Senate has scheduled a joint Education and School Aid Appropriations committee hearing to take public testimony on the Common Core State Standards, which will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2nd.

GLEP urges the Senate to take swift action to endorse the Common Core.
