GLEP: Parents and Teachers Deserve an Answer from Whitmer

Superintendent Michael Rice says that schools should freeze enrollment

LANSING – Great Lakes Education Project Executive Director Beth DeShone today is asking on Governor Whitmer, and legislative Democrats, to answer for the statement Dr. Rice made in the Senate Education and Career Readiness Committee.

“Dr. Rice said in today’s Senate Education and Career Readiness committee that the state should freeze enrollment to mitigate the movement of students across district lines. In effect, he wants the state to hold families hostage from potential education opportunities that best meet the needs of students. Governor Whitmer and legislative Democrats should state whether they support this position.”
